The chapters in this volume were presented first as papers in a plenary session at the 34th Annual Midwestern Archaeological Conference in 1989. All have been revised and updated since. This book is another addition to the recent literature dealing with the origins of plant domestication in eastern North America and includes chapters by many of the scholars who have been at the forefront of paleoethnobotanical research.
