This work of art was included in the Blanden Art Museum's exhibit: Art as Medicine: Artists React to Present State. “Art is a wound turned into light” – Georges Braque Closed to the public in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the museum explored alternative ways to connect with the community. The digital arena became a way for museums to provide educational services to members, students and art enthusiasts. This exhibit was an attempt to provide a space where creative voices could be seen and shared. The state of the world in 2020 seemed overwhelming and chaotic, but out of that, great love and beauty could still be expressed. Art is essential, especially during times that are full of stress and anxiety. Artwork can be medicine for the mind and soul. Artists are able to look at situations such as the 2020 pandemic and create profound work that speaks to a collective event, memory, and new reality. The artist's ability to find inspiration in world events and explore new ways of communicating information can help us all.
