This is a set of identification tags belonging to Brigadier General H. A. Allen, who served in the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) during the First World War. There are three tags in total, made of a silver-gray nickel alloy. Two of the tags are still attached to their cord, while one has been separated at an unknown point in time. Allen commanded the 67th Artillery Brigade of the 92nd Infantry Division of the I Corps of the Third Army during the final year of the war. After the war, Allen returned to Iowa and donated many artifacts from his oversees service to the Iowa Masonic Library and Museum.
