A large, round cap/disk of unknown purpose. It is part of the larger 1907 German Artillery Shell (2018.002.029) but its exact function is unknown at this time. It is a component of the internal mechanism of the shell, most likely used to retain the shape and form of the gunpowder and other internal components. It has a large circular hole through its center, which was likely where the priming rod would have been fitted when the shell was still active. It is considerably lighter than the rest of the shell and is made of a thin brass sheet.
