This historical marker was dedicated in 2008 at the site of the Bonnie and Clyde shootout that occurred on July 24, 1933, in Dexfield Park, which is located north of Dexter, Iowa. During the shootout, Clyde's older brother, Marvin who went by his nickname Buck, and his sister-in-law Blanche were captured. Bonnie, Clyde, and teenager W. D. Jones escaped north. Content can be used with the following standards: SS-Gov. 9-12.28 Iowa Issues and Policy and SS-U.S. 9-12.23 Iowans Influence U.S. History in a lesson on Iowa's involvement in Bonnie and Clyde's countrywide crime sprees and how they impacted the local law in Dexter, Iowa. Lessons should include other Bonnie and Clyde artifacts found in relations.
