This banner was created in 1908 by a group known as the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The "Sons of Veterans" group was organized in 1881 to preserve the history of soldiers who fought for the Union during the Civil War. This ceremonial banner was used by the Col. S. G. Hill Camp, which was Muscatine's branch of the Sons of Veterans.
