On June 2, 1871, one of these handkerchiefs, either the large blue one or the smaller white one embroidered with the letter "M," was given to Alexander Miles Alcorn by one of the two members of Jesse James' gang who stayed overnight at the Alcorn farm the night before robbing the Ocobock Bank in Corydon, Iowa.
