Porcelain lag screw insulators were (and are) commonly used to attach power and communications lines to buildings. These style insulators were also generally available at hardware stores and have seen much use in privately installed wiring. These are very commonly found and have been made in a large variety of styles. There is currently no hobby numbering system for these style insulators.
