This is a seed corn grader. It consists of a galvanized hand-cranked tin drum on a wooden and metal frame. A large funnel is inserted into a hole on top at one end. Seed corn was fed into the funnel and sorted by size as the drum was turned. This grader was made by Universal Hoist and Mfg. Co, Cedar Falls, Ia. Universal Hoist was founded in 1906 in Cedar Falls by John R. Voorhees. In addition to making corn graders, they later made hoists.
