This picture of Ringgold County's first brick courthouse was included in the June 12, 1896 issue of Twice-A-Week News, one of Ringgold County's early newspapers. The courthouse was built in Mount Ayr between 1883 and 1884. The tower was located on the east side of the courthouse and was 102 feet tall. Due to foundation settling and inferior building products, the courthouse was condemned in 1921 and demolished in 1922.
