This poster advertised the 25th Annual Ringgold County Basketball Tournament held in 1943. Every high school boys basketball team in Ringgold County participated in this tournament, which was held every year between 1919 and 1958. The tournament was held outside of Ringgold County just once due to smallpox outbreaks in 1922. The Diagonal Maroons basketball team won 15 out of the 40 total tournaments. In 1938 this team won the state title; however, they lost in the first round of the Ringgold County tournament that same year. Iowa Hall of Fame Coach Omer Clay "Pop" Varner won 17 Ringgold County tournaments with three different high schools, Delphos, Diagonal, and Mount Ayr.
