The kitchen in the Granger house was in constant use and off-limits to anyone except the immediate family as it was a purely functional space rather than an entertaining one. The majority of activity took place around their cast-iron, wood-burning stove which was used for cooking, as well as baking, canning, heating water and heating irons for daily chores.
