This is the mule cemetery located at the Mahaska County Historical Society. It contains the graves of two mules who served as pack animals in the Union Army during the American Civil War, Becky and Jennie. Purchased by Daniel Nelson in an auction in Centerville in 1865, these two mules went on to pull Union artillery pieces and other military implements until the end of the war. Becky is recorded as dying in 1888, while Jennie is recorded as dying in 1897.
