This photograph shows the Main Street of Kanawha, Iowa. During the early 1900s, this street was a cause of concern for many of Kanawha's residents. Large amount of dust and litter from the dirt road led many citizens to petition for the town to pave the road. These residents continued to call for a paved road for many years, and the town finally paved the road in 1938.
