I Flew with the Lafayette Escadrille was written by Captain James Norman Hall. During WWI, Capt. Hall was one of the fighter pilots of the Lafayette Escadrille. The plane was commissioned by the US in 1916 but was under French command. Plane held mostly volunteer U.S. fighter pilots and was named after Marquis de Lafayette, the Frenchman who helped win the American Revolutionary War. In this book, Capt.
