This picture contains civil war era bullets. These bullets house two types of ammunition called Minie balls and musket balls. Pictured above are four minie balls which have a conical like shape. Even though they have a more cone like shape, the bullets are still called "balls" due to their round shape that has been used for ammunition in pervious centuries. The Minie balls are made from soft led and usually smaller than the actual gun bore which helped to speed up the loading process during battle.
