This is a lithograph created by Grant Wood. The lithograph depicts a pair of hands holding objects over a table. The left hand is holding a stethoscope, and the right hand is holding a thermometer. There is a pocket watch sitting on the table. The title, "Family Doctor" is written in pencil in the lower right hand corner. This piece was commissioned in a series of lithographs by Grant Wood in 1940. Grant Wood was born in Anamosa, Iowa. He was a very well known artist and a teacher at the University of Iowa. Grant Wood's most famous painting was the iconic "American Gothic" (uima.uiowa.edu).
