This photograph is of the Bohemian-American Hose Company, a fire brigade staffed by Czech-Americans of Cedar Rapids. The Company was located at the rear side of the CSPS (Czechoslovak Protective Society) Hall, which is now home to Legion Arts and other local businesses in the New Bohemia (NewBo) district of Cedar Rapids. The Company consisted of 29 volunteer firefighters who provided services to the community until the formation of a paid fire department in 1894.
