This coin is a Civil War token, more specifically known as a Store Card. Civil War tokens were produced between 1861 and 1864. The inscription on the reverse side of this token indicates the specific store that created this coin and where it could be redeemed for merchandise. This coin could be traded with John L. Hanson - perhaps a baker - for one 10 cent loaf of bread. For any use other than instructional resources, please check with the organization that owns this item regarding copyright restrictions.
