This button displays the slogan "Black Power." The Black Power movement, which was popular in the 1960s and 1970s, emphasized racial pride and the promotion of the values and interests of African Americans. However, some people criticized the movement for alienating itself from the mainstream civil rights movement for its apparent support of racial segregation, and for constituting black superiority over other races.
