This poultry brooder was purchased at a farm sale in northern Grundy County. It is made of sheet metal and the cone-shaped roof has a handle on the top. There is a horizontally sliding door on the side. This brooder would cover a nesting hen with her chicks. The hen could not get out, but the chicks could. The chicks would always come back to their mother. The door could be opened later, allowing the hen to leave when she got used to it.
