This goose egg is an example of kraslice- Czech-style decorative egg painting. Kraslice involves a wax resist technique in which patterns are etched onto the egg with beeswax, and then dyed to reveal a pattern. The method has much in common with the Ukrainian style of traditional egg decoration, and is commonly practiced through Czech-American families in Iowa.
