This photograph shows the Delphos, Iowa, train depot. Delphos was established in 1880 when the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy Railroad was extended from Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Grant City, Missouri. The railroad discontinued service south of Mount Ayr in 1945, which left Delphos without rail service. Delphos didn't grow much and was the only incorporated town in Ringgold County to never have a bank. The post office closed in 1993. In 2017, Delphos filed papers with the Ringgold County Board of Supervisors to forfeit their incorporated status. The Board approved the papers in 2018, which made Delphos an unincorporated community.
